A 3-wine tasting generally takes about 1 to 1-1/4 hours and a 6-wine tasting takes about twice as long.
-
Depending upon the theme, the average cost per bottle of wine is approximately $50 - $60.
-
This depends upon the number of guests at your event. We use a 1.75oz measured pour per taste which allows us to pour approximately 14 tastes from a standard 750ml bottle of wine. We recommend a minimum of 2 bottles of each wine being tasted, assuming 10 people are tasting. Any wine not poured is yours to keep.

It’s best to do the tasting at a table covered with a plain, white tablecloth. Also, you should provide paper and pen to each guest so that they can take notes and record their impressions during the tasting. Other than clear, uniform-sized wine glasses, water, small plates and silverware for light bites, the table should not have flowers, candles, or decorations. For additional details on light bites, see FAQ What About Food?

Each event is conducted by Richard Giles, the owner and creator of WONDERING ABOUT WINE?

WONDERING ABOUT WINE? will supply rental glasses, if requested. There is an additional charge for rental glasses and breakage insurance. We recommend one glass for each wine being tasted per person. So, if we’re tasting 3 wines and there are ten people tasting, a total of 30 glasses would be needed. While you’re free to supply your own glasses (all glasses should be clear glass with no tint), we recommend that you rent glasses so that there’s a uniform tasting experience for all tasters (besides, who wants to wash all those glasses?).
-
We’re flexible depending upon our schedule and availability. Based on experience, most events are done as a late afternoon or pre-dinner activity. We will generally arrive at your home, office, or other venue approximately 1 hour before you’d like the event to begin so we can set up and be ready to start once your guests have arrived. We also need about 30 minutes to gather any rental glasses and other materials we brought (i.e., corkscrews, dump buckets, etc.) and clear out once the tasting is over.

While we do not provide food for the tasting, we strongly recommend that you provide food during the tasting (charcuterie, cheeses, crackers, fruit, etc.). We are happy to make recommendations on what to serve if you’d like. We also require that each taster have water to drink during the tasting.
